"Drag Race" Legend Peppermint Makes "Celebrating America" Cameo

She was serving "Seasons of Love" during last night's primetime concert.

In President Joe Biden's America, we pledge allegiance to the flag and the drag!

Last night's star-studded primetime concert event, Celebrating America, was hosted by America's dad, Tom Hanks, and featured performances by a slew of A-listers like Bruce Springsteen, John Legend, Katy Perry and... RuPaul's Drag Race Season 9 runner-up Peppermint?!

One segment during the program saw some of Broadway's biggest stars sing "Seasons of Love" from RENT. Vanessa Williams, Laura Benanti, and Anthony Rapp all belted the uplifting musical classic. And if you kept your eyes peeled, you might have caught a glimpse of Peppermint looking fabulous and singing one of the lines.

Peppermint and President Biden actually have parallel childhoods. They were both born in Pennsylvania and then raised in Delaware. According to Delaware Online, Peppermint was a child actor in the Wilmington area performing with the Delaware Children's Theater, OperaDelaware, and The Brandywiners.

The New York City nightlife icon has already broken barriers as the first openly transgender contestant cast on Drag Race, and the first openly trans woman to originate a principal role on Broadway (Head Over Heels).

Peppermint has kept busy since her time on the Great White Way. She released a new album, A Girl Like Me: Letters To My Lovers, back in the fall, and you can catch her on OUTtvgo’s Translation. The weekly roundtable series features Pep and her Drag Race sisters Jiggly Caliente, Sonique, and Carmen Carrera as they discuss topics like politics and dating from their perspectives as trans people. You can also catch her on Pepp Talks, her Black movie review series on Twitch.
