Joseph Biden Jr. is the 47th and current Vice President of the United States. Biden was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania and often expresses that his parents instilled within him the importance of perseverance and hard work. Biden worked as an attorney before getting involved with politics. He became the fifth-youngest U.S. senator in history as well as Delaware's longest-serving senator. Biden attended the University of Delaware studying history and political science. He then moved on to attend Syracuse Law School. In 2007, Biden embarked on running for the US Presidency but was unsuccessful. Several months after he dropped out of the race, President Barack Obama selected Biden as his running mate and they successfully beat Senator John McCain and Senator Sarah Palin to win the 2008 Presidential election.
