As a native of the Big Apple, Kerry Washington was no newbie when it came to the world of theater and acting. Bronx-born Kerry attended the Spence School of Manhattan before enrolling in George Washington University's theater program. After college she spent a few months in India practicing yoga before she made her film debut in Our Song in 2000. A year after that, she gained widespread popularity after appearing as a teen mom in Save The Last Dance. She received a nomination for Best Female Lead at the 2002 Independent Spirit Awards for her performance in Lift (2001). Kerry’s portrayal of Della, Ray Charles' wife, opposite Jamie Foxx in Ray earned her an Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Picture in 2005. She stared opposite Foxx again in 2012 as Broomhilda von Schaft in Django Unchained. Today, Kerry’s biggest hit is the television series Scandal on ABC where she plays professional ‘fixer’ Olivia Pope. While the show airs, the show’s devoted “gladiators” tweet the actress to discuss the plot. HIDE
