With 63 million certified albums sold, Mariah Carey remains one of the best selling singers of all time and holds a career that has spanned over two decades. Her five-octane voice caught the attention of Sony mogul Tommy Mottola, who was so impressed with her talent that he immediately signed her on to Columbia Records. Her self-titled debut CD was a smash hit with four number one singles, and her second album, Music Box did even better. After achieving success after success, she struggled with a public breakdown on MTV's Total Request Live and her film Glitter bombed at the box office.
