If there's one thing we can say about most Republican politicians it's that they're predictable. Most, but not Donald Trump.

There are reports the GOP nominee wants to put PayPal co-founder Peter Thiel on the Supreme Court, which would make him the first gay justice on the nation's highest court. (And the richest: Thiel is worth an estimated $2.7 billion.)

A source close to Thiel claims he's telling friends Trump would nominate him after winning the presidency.

"[Trump] deeply loves Peter Thiel,” another insider told Huffington Post.

Spokespeople for both men are denying the claim, however. "Peter hasn’t had any conversations about a Supreme Court nomination and has no interest in the job,” insists Thiel rep Jeremiah Hill.

The seat vacated by the late Anthony Scalia remains a point of contention, as Congress has refused to hold hearings for President Obama's nominee, Merrick Garland.

Thiel, who was also the first outside investor in Facebook, did not appear on Trump's list of potential Supreme Court nominees back in May. But it's not like the Donald doesn't go off script when he feels like it.

On a political level, it's hard to pin down Thiel, who spoke at the GOP convention this summer: he's a libertarian who supports marriage equality but also endorses monopolies and criticizes welfare.

Of the trend in "bathroom bills" like North Carolina's HB2, he declared, "Who cares?"

He attended Stanford Law School and worked at a prestigious New York law firm for seven months, which appears to be the extent of his legal expertise.

In his 2014 memoir Zero to One, he revealed he applied for clerkships with Scalia and Justice Anthony Kennedy when he was younger, but was rejected for both posts.

“If only I got the clerkship, I thought, I would be set for life,” he wrote. “At the time, I was devastated.”

Of course, we might be devastated without PayPal and Facebook.
