Phil Robertson: Gay Marriage Killed 160,000 Americans

The "Duck Dynasty" star really needs to shut the quack up.

Just when we finally put Phil Robertson out of our minds, the Duck Dynasty patriarch is back mouthing off about LGBT people again.

At the Western Conservative Summit, an annual gathering of right-wing favorites, Robertson blamed marriage equality for the murder rate in the United States.

Robertson compared the 6,000-7,000 soldiers killed since the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan to the 160,000 people murdered in the United States during the same time period.

“Who’s behind it?” he asked before the Supreme Court’s ruling on marriage equality last year.

“When you allow men to determine what’s right and what’s wrong, you get decisions like the five judges who said, ‘I may not know we have 7,000 years of history of men marrying women — a male and a female …. I know it’s been that way for 7,000 years, but we know best for what’s everybody.'”

Anyone want to tell Phil that the murder rate has declined since states began recognizing marriage equality?

The pretend redneck also slammed trans people using bathrooms that match their gender identity.

“Now there’s grown men barging in on you ladies when you’re putting your Maybelline on,” said Robertson. “All you ladies, you will never ever catch [me] coming up in your bathroom,” he added while stroking his beard.

Other speakers at the conference included Sarah Palin and Carly Fiorina—who, at least, are politicians. You really have to wonder about a movement that relies on reality stars for talking points.

Then again, Donald Trump is the GOP’s presidential candidate.
