Philly Gay Bashing Suspects Turn Themselves In, Including Police Chief's Daughter
Three suspects in the recent attack on a Philadelphia gay couple have turned themselves in to authorities, including the daughter of a area police chief.
ABC6 confirms that Katherine Knott—the 24-year-old the daughter of Chalfont, Bucks County Police Chief Karl Knott—was among the suspects who came to authorities this morning.
At [the Knotts'] Southampton home, no one answered. But when we asked several neighbors about the charges against Knott, off camera, they would only say they're not surprised.
The charges stem from a September 11 incident in which a gay couple was violently attacked by a mob of at least 10 people, who punched and kicked them in the face, head and chest as they yelled anti-gay slurs. (One victim had to have his jaw wired shut.)
On Tuesday, lawmakers held a rally to garner support for a measure to add sexual orientation and gender identity to Pennsylvania's hate-crimes laws.
UPDATE: It appears Knott has a history of making crude racist and homophobic comments on social media (shocking).
