While Monday night’s NewNowNext Awards were in full swing, the Point Foundation had a celebration of its own at Pier Sixty in New York, where LGBT high-school students were awarded scholarships at a gala dinner. The event was hosted by celebrity chef/actor David Burtka, with Burtka’s hubby Neil Patrick Harris on hand to support his partner and the Point program.
Also in attendance: The Face judge Nigel Barker, who was presented with the Point Courage Award, activist David Mixner, Paper magazine’s Mickey Boardman, LaLa Anthony, Ally Sheedy and Kinky Boots stars Andy Kelso and Timothy Ware. Actress ally Judith Light presented the Point Inspiration Award to Estée Lauder president Peter Lichtenthal, who announced the company was funding a $100,000 Named Point Scholarship.
In all, more than $660,000 was raised in the name of LGBT youth. Who says you can’t party on a school night?
