Police Officer Named Dick Holder Fired For Moonlighting As A Sex Worker

This is the second time the force has had to fire a male officer for prostitution.

A British police officer has been fired for working as a prostitute.

The unfortunately named Detective Constable Richard Holder was let go from the Sussex Police for “gross misconduct” after advertising himself on the website AdultWork. Holder was terminated at a disciplinary hearing Monday, although he had already resigned.

At the hearing, Chief Constable Giles York said Holder was accepting payment for sexual encounters at his home while he was off duty and on sick leave. York added that Holder’s record was tarnished even before his side hustle came to light and that he displayed a “pattern of disruptive behavior that has been on the verge of criminal at times.”

Police Federation chairman Matt Webb, who represented Holder, said the ex-officer was apologetic “for his lack of judgment.”

The incident is all too familiar for the Sussex police force: In 2016, constable Daniel Moss was fired for similarly doing sex work while on sick leave,
