Pope Francis Calls Gender Diversity Part Of A "Global War" Against The Family

"They don’t destroy it with weapons, but with ideas."

Pope Francis is wrapped up a visit to the former Soviet nation of Georgia, but made time to attack transgender people as part of a international conspiracy to destroy families.

On Saturday, Francis met with priests, seminarian and religious followers in Tbilisi, where he claimed gender nonconformity is "a great enemy of marriage."

“Today, there is a global war trying to destroy marriage... they don’t destroy it with weapons, but with ideas. It’s certain ideological ways of thinking that are destroying it."

Francis warned the faithful that they had to defend themselves "from ideological colonization."

Contemporary gender theory states that while one's "sex" is determined by chromosomes and biology, "gender" is a construct: An individual may identify as male, female, neither, both or somewhere in-between and should be respected regardless. (And gender stereotypes, like boys should play with trucks or women should stay home and cook and clean, are discouraged.)

Pope Francis also slammed divorce, claiming it hurts God, "because God is the one who made them one, and when they divorce they dirty what God has made.”

Sometimes, he added, "the devil enters and puts another woman in front of the man who seems more beautiful, or a man in front of the woman who’s better than her husband.”
