Tens, Tens, Tens Across the Board! "Pose" Season 2 Gets a Premiere Date

Are you ready, darlings?

The House of Abundance is back and ready to serve it to the children. FX has announced that the second season of Pose will premiere June 11 at 9/8c on FX.

Not only did FX unveil the premiere date for the new season, but the cable net also confirmed that the second season will time jump to 1990 with ballroom and vogueing about to go mainstream thanks to Madonna and Paris Is Burning, leading the House of Evangelista to "reevaluate their goals."

"Meanwhile, the AIDS crisis worsens and the reaction from a group of activists reaches a fever pitch," according to the FX press release.

Pose's critically-acclaimed first season debuted last summer, with the series eventually landing two Golden Globe nominations earlier this year: for Best Television Series—Drama and Best Actor for Billy Porter. FX has also made it known that they will be pushing Pose hard for Emmy nominations this year (since it premiered too late to be considered for last year's awards). Back in March Pose was the first screener sent to Television Academy voters.

“Ryan Murphy has once again revolutionized television with Pose, an incredibly engaging story of creativity, courage, compassion, love and family at a pivotal time in our culture,” said FX CEO John Landgraf, when it was announced Pose was renewed for a second season.

“As television critics have universally acknowledged, there is simply nothing like Pose on TV, so effortlessly excelling on every creative level and earning a place in television history for its infectiously inclusive spirit. We are honored to partner with our producers Ryan, Brad Falchuk, Steven Canals, Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Alexis Martin Woodall and Sherry Marsh, and the incredible cast and crew to continue this groundbreaking journey that is Pose.”

As NewNowNext previously reported, Pose co-creator Ryan Murphy announced at this year's PaleyFest in Los Angeles, that Broadway legend Patti LuPone would be joining the cast for the new season. While Murphy didn’t reveal who LuPone will play, he assured series stars Billy Porter and Mj Rodriguez that they would share plenty of scenes with the outspoken 69-year-old Tony Award winner. Murphy also revealed that the season premiere is set on the day Madonna’s released “Vogue.”

The 10-episode second season of Pose premieres June 11 on FX.
