The Powerpuff Girls Return To Cartoon Network—With A Fourth Member

"Sugar. Spice. And everything nice..."

Blossom, Bubbles, Buttercup… and Blueberry?

Cartoon Network is reviving The Powerpuff Girls and giving the mighty triad a fourth member.

The five-part movie event The Powerpuff Girls: Power of Four airs Sunday, September 17, taking us back to the city of Townsville, and our favorite pint-sized crusaders, plus Professor Utonium, Mayor, Ms. Bellum and the rest.

Debuting in 1992, The Powerpuff Girls always had a queer bent—with strong young female leads, and campy villains like Princess Morbucks, Sedusa, and the deliciously fey Him.

And we’ll be Mojo Jojo’s uncle if Buttercup and Blossom aren’t an archetypal butch-femme couple.

But who will the mysterious fourth member be—and is four a crowd? EW has a promo image from the show, though the new Powerpuff is conveniently blacked out.

We’ll just have to wait until The Powerpuff Girls: Power of Four airs Sunday, September 17, at 5:30/4:30c on Cartoon Network.
