Obama Thanks Edie Windsor In White House, Russia Says Anti-Gay Bias Equal To Ginger-Phobia: Today In Gay

Obama advisor Valerie Jarrett wrote on the White House blog:

The thanks expressed by the President that day have been echoed by millions of Americans, including thousands of legally married couples who can now live their lives with greater justice and dignity – thanks to heroes like Edie Windsor who have been willing to stand up and fight for equality under the law.

The President also invited Windsor to a state dinner honoring French president Francois Hollande.

Congratulations to Pascal Tessier, a senior at Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School in Maryland, who just became the first openly gay Eagle Scout in the United States.

Sadly, because of the Boy Scouts' policy banning gay adults, Tessier will be promptly removed from the organization upon his 18th birthday in August.

"It's kind of a backhanded acceptance: We accept you for now," Tessier told the Washington Post. "It says to you you're a monster of some sort."

Tessier's older brother, Lucien, is also gay—and also became an Eagle Scout several years ago, when he was still in the closet.

“As a Christian person, I can’t stand by and watch someone be put through a tortuous practice to change a behavior,” said Republican Rep. Richard DeBolt.

If passed, the ban would fall under the Uniform Disciplinary Act, which currently proscribes negligence, dishonesty, misuse of drugs or alcohol and betrayal of practitioner-patient privilege.

Rep. Laurie Jinkins, a Democrat from Tacoma, recalled a friend who was institutionalized and given shock treatment after telling her parents she was a lesbian. “This bill is about recognizing human dignity of all our kids."

The measure now heads to the State Senate.

After Britain's Channel 4 aired Hunted, a documentary exposing violent antigay vigilante groups like Occupy Pedophilia, the embassy attached the film as "hate propaganda" that is "full of distorted facts and unverifiable allegations." In a statement, the embassy argued, "One could have easily whipped up such 'documentary' about a hunting season on redheads in the UK, saying that 'ginger' people face unmotivated verbal and physical abuse on a daily basis."

The embassy claims Hunted was produced and scheduled to cast a shadow over the Winter Olympics in Sochi. Actually, you guys are doing a pretty good job of that yourself.
