What the 2020 Presidential Hopefuls Got Up To for Pride Weekend

From Kamala Harris' incredible jacket to the Buttigiegs' whereabouts, catch up here.

Still riding off the high of Pride Month 2019 and the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots? You're not the only one.

Below, find out what some of the most prominent presidential hopefuls in the 2020 race for the Oval Office got up to (or totally and blatantly ignored) on this momentous occasion.

Pete Buttigieg

The out mayor of South Bend, Indiana, spent this weekend at home for a faith-led Peace Walk in response to a local police shooting of a black man, reports the South Bend Tribune. Meanwhile, his husband, Chasten Buttigieg, took to the streets of New York City for the 2019 NYC Pride March, riding alongside LGBTQ Victory Fund President and CEO Annise Parker.

The pair did come to NYC for Chasten's birthday on Friday, June 28, hosting a ticketed event for supporters at Brooklyn Steel in East Williamsburg.

Elizabeth Warren

The Massachusetts senator spent the bulk of the weekend on the campaign trail, speaking at events and personally calling up grassroots donors to thank them for pledging their support. She did, however, attend a local Pride event earlier this month, donning a rainbow feather boa in a lewk to end all lewks.

The outspoken LGBTQ ally also tweeted in support of equality for queer Americans and shared links to GLAAD's tweets commemorating the 50th anniversary of the famed Stonewall Riots on June 28, 1969.

This Sunday, the California lawmaker and proud ally to the queer community attended San Francisco Pride in style, donning a rhinestoned rainbow denim jacket to march in the parade and greet participants.

Bernie Sanders

The Vermont lawmaker celebrated Pride in Nashua, New Hampshire. He also tweeted a quote from legend Marsha P. Johnson in honor of Stonewall50.

Beto O'Rourke

The former Texas representative spent much of the weekend on the ground on the Mexico side of the U.S.-Mexico border, interacting directly with Mexicans seeking to immigrant or obtain asylum in America who have been turned away. On the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, O'Rourke also tweeted out a message in support of LGBTQ Americans, sharing photos from when he stopped by the iconic Stonewall Inn in NYC earlier this month.

Cory Booker

On Friday, June 28, Booker also commemorated the Stonewall Riots on Twitter. It was a smart follow-up to his comments at the first DNC debate, in which Booker emphasized the need to protect LGBTQ Americans, particularly black transgender women.

Julián Castro

The San Antonio mayor took to the streets of his city on Sunday to celebrate Pride (and tweeted that he was glad to be back home for the festivities after last week's DNC debates in Miami.)

NYC Mayor and presidential hopeful Bill de Blasio marched in NYC's Pride March on Sunday—and shared his excitement at the Big Apple hosting WorldPride 2019 on Instagram.

Joe Biden

The Obama-era VP didn't attend any official Pride celebrations. However, he did mark the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots on Twitter, too, sharing a short video of him stopping by the iconic spot.

Donald Trump

The President spent his weekend abroad in Asia meeting with other world leaders—and not offering so much as a tweet in honor of the culmination of LGBTQ Pride Month. We can't say we're terribly surprised given his administration's appallingly anti-LGBTQ policy record.

He is selling official Trump merch for Pride, though, so go off, Jill.
