Fox Releases First Pictures From "Empire" Season Two
Empire debuted on Fox back in January to little fanfare (mid-season replacement shows are usually treated shabbily), but by the time the final episode aired in March, it had become a pop culture phenomenon.
It's the story of Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard), hip hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment, who is grooming his three sons Andre (Trai Byers), Jamal (Jussie Smollett), and Hakeem (Bryshere Y. Gray) to take over the family business, while dealing with his formidable ex-wife Cookie (played by the Emmy-nominated Taraji P. Henson).
The show rewrote the rules on primetime soaps, combining music industry intrigue, family strife, and homophobia (Lucious cannot accept Jamal's sexuality). It also gave the world the fabulous and life-giving COOKIE COUTURE.
Empire returns for Season Two on September 25, and Fox has released the first promo pics from the premiere, titled "The Devils Are Here."
When last we left, Lucious had named Jamal the successor CEO of Empire Entertainment, before being carted off to jail for murder. What will Season Two bring? From these pics, we have courtroom drama, jailbird Lucious, hot performances, and Don Lemon interviewing Cookie's priceless assistant Porsha.
Empire returns Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9:00 PM ET on Fox
