Pro Figure Skater Comes Out—With A Kiss

"I feel like the luckiest person in the world!"

Javier Raya, an Olympic figure skater from Spain who became the national senior champion in 2011, came out as gay with the help of some Instagram PDA.

The 25-year-old posted a photo of him kissing his boyfriend with the caption, “Many of you know, others can imagine by the pictures and others will be surprised, but I have to say that right now I feel like the luckiest person in the world! Thank you @nicholsondrew.”
Raya, who competed in the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics, is the second Spanish athlete to recently come out of the closet, as a member of the Spanish water polo team came out this year as well.

Sadly, that doesn’t mean Spain is free from homophobia in sports, as the country’s first openly gay soccer referee ended up quitting the game because of receiving so much abuse from both players and fans.
