Here's Your First Look at Peacock's "Queer as Folk" Reboot
Peacock is showing its feathers with a sneak peek at its upcoming slate of original series, including a first look at the new Queer as Folk.
As Logo reported back in 2021, Peacock’s “reimagining” of the groundbreaking original U.K. series — not the Showtime remake — moves the action to New Orleans and follows a new crop of queer characters. The cast includes Candace Grace (Acts of Crime), Logo Live host Johnny Sibilly (Pose, Hacks), Devin Way (Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19), and Fin Argus (Clouds, The Gifted), Jesse James Keitel (Big Sky), Ryan O'Connell, Benito Skinner, Nyle DiMarco, along with Juliette Lewis and Kim Cattrall.
In a preview of "What's Coming to Peacock in 2022," we get a glimpse of returning fan-favorite shows like Girls5Eva and Rutherford Falls, as well as extended looks at Angelyne, Bel-Air, and a brief but colorful clip from Queer as Folk.
The original British Queer as Folk, created by Russell T. Davies and produced by Nicola Shindler, debuted in 1999 and ran for 10 episodes on Channel 4. A North American remake aired 2000–2005 for five seasons on Showtime. Peacock's reboot was first announced in December 2018, with Davies and Shindler serving as executive producers. Stephen Dunn, who directed 2015’s Closet Monster, is attached as writer, creator, and executive producer.
This version of Queer as Folk is being described as "a vibrant reimagining of the groundbreaking British series created by Russell T. Davies, exploring a diverse group of friends in New Orleans whose lives are transformed in the aftermath of a tragedy."
Queer as Folk will hit Peacock sometime in 2022. In the meantime, get your first glimpse at the series in the video below.
