Becoming Nobody

Spiritual guru Ram Dass, a.k.a. Dr. Richard Alpert, is the subject of Jamie Catto’s new documentary, which charts his eventful ascent from Harvard psychologist to Eastern holy man with a rascally edge. Although the 88-year-old Dass is gay, his sexuality is essentially brushed aside—unlike in a recent New York Times interview—as Catto keeps the focus on his enlightenment and ideas. The Blonde One

Argentine director Marco Berger (Taekwondo, Absent) set his latest gay romantic drama in the Buenos Aires suburbs, where football-loving “straight” Juan (Alfonso Barón) finds a new roommate in his blond introverted co-worker Gabriel (Gaston Re). Soon enough, the pair are bonding sexually and romantically on the down low, but Juan’s partying and flagrant womanizing prove a strain on Gabriel’s heart. Oh, henny, we know. It: Chapter Two

Trigger warning: The second part of director Andy Muschietti’s adaptation of Stephen King’s epic novel opens with a brutal, upsetting scene centered around a gay bashing, which King says was inspired by the real-life 1984 murder of a gay Bangor, Maine, resident, Charlie Howard (queer Quebecois filmmaker Xavier Dolan plays the victim). Once you're past that, the scares keep coming as the Losers Club reunites 27 years later to combat a diabolical, murderous force in Derry. In a moving queer twist, Muschietti runs with King’s suggestion that Richie Tozier (Bill Hader and Stranger Things' Finn Wolfhard) was gay and in love with one of the other Losers—but we ain’t saying which. Linda Ronstadt: The Sound of My Voice

Oscar-winning gay filmmaker team Rob Epstein and Jeffrey Friedman (The Celluloid Closet) bring us this documentary on the eventful life of 1970s and '80s female rock icon Ronstadt, best known for hits like “You’re No Good” and now stricken with Parkinson’s. You’re golden, girl. (Now playing, Greenwich Entertainment/1091/CNN Films)

Analysis Paralysis

This gay rom-com is a literal family affair. Co-written by Jason T. Gaffney and his straight father Ed (and produced by Jason’s husband, Matt Gorlick, and mother Suzanne Brockmann), it tells the story of a best-selling author whose military- and love-themed books are notably LGBTQ-inclusive. Making his feature directorial debut, Jason also stars as Tyler, a young author suffering from an anxiety disorder that causes him to imagine every way a situation can go wrong, including a blossoming relationship with his adorable neighbor Shane (Kevin Held). Bathroom Stalls & Parking Lots

Writer-director Thales Corrêa stars in this comedic gay romp as Leo, a Brazilian man visiting San Francisco. When he learns that his crush, Totah (Felix Omedo), is also in the area, he sets off on a mission to find him with help from friends and good ol’ hookup apps, leading them through the Castro’s bars, clubs, and sex spots. A Los Angeles–based immigrant, Corrêa, who's Brazilian, strove to give an authentic voice to his culture through his feature debut, which snagged the Audience Award at Philadelphia’s qFLIX. Elite

The students of Spain’s Las Encinas elite boarding school are back, and if you stanned hard over gay couple Ander (Arón Piper) and drug-dealing Omar (Omar Ayuso) last season (women in particular legit ate up that shit!), get ready for more, more, more of the breakout couple, plus another crime mystery for good measure. Fun fact: A third season has already been greenlit! (Streaming now on Netflix)

Titans

The second season of DC Universe’s series about young superheroes sees the acting debut of genderqueer, deaf, biracial artist and model Chella Man as Jericho, a.k.a. Joseph Wilson, the mute, superpowered son of villain Deathstroke (Esai Morales). Although we’ve recently seen transgender actors appear in superhero series and films (Supergirl, Netflix’s Jessica Jones, Spider-Man: Far From Home), gay executive producer Greg Berlanti again makes history with this exciting, intersectional representation. Look for Chella Man/Jericho in the Friday, October 25 episode. (Streaming now on DC Universe)

Mr. Mercedes

Last season, lesbian character Lou Linklatter (Breeda Wool) shot her former colleague, the Mr. Mercedes killer Brady (Harry Treadaway), in court. But did she actually kill him, or could something supernatural be afoot, as the now imprisoned Lou suggests in Season 3? Well, it’s from the mind of Stephen King, mmmkayyy? (Premieres September 10 on Audience)
