Torchwood (BBC America) 9:00 PM EDT

It's here! It's finally here! I have been a big Doctor Who fan ever since Russel T. Davies' version made its American debut on The Sci-Fi Channel and I've missed the presence of John Barrowman's character, Captain Jack Harkness, since he was written out in the first season finale. It's not just a newfound appreciation for Doctor Who that has me excited, however. After all, Jack Harkness really does represent a breakthrough in how gay men are depicted in science fiction.

The interview with David Tennant that was supposed to happen a couple weeks ago airs this week, making this a great night for Doctor Who fans. (Though you know what would make this a really great night? The Doctor Who episode of The Weakest Link ... I mean, just check out the clip after the cut.

Sunday

The Business (Independent Film Channel) 8:00 PM EDT

Julia gets her hands on the script of a lifetime, which means the Vic's Flicks crew will find a way to screw that up. Matt Silver is the studio's closeted nerd, Terrence Von Holtzen.

The Minor Accomplishments of Jackie Woodman (Independent Film Channel) 8:30 PM EDT

Jackie's mother comes to visit, just as Jackie is seeing a new, sketchy guy ... isn't that usually the case for Jackie? Out actor Patrick Bristow usually gets a little screen time as a staffer at the magazine where Jackie works at.
