R.Kelly Says Lady Gaga “Not Professional” for Pulling Duet

Lady Gaga pulled their duet from iTunes and streaming platforms earlier this year.

R. Kelly became unhinged in his interview on CBS This Morning Wednesday (March 6) with Gayle King amidst sexual, mental, and physical abuse allegations brought to life by Lifetime’s investigative docu-series Surviving R. Kelly.

In the explosive first interview since being charged with aggravated sexual abuse, the 52-year-old singer told King the accusations are not true.

In January, Lady Gaga came forward to stand with the survivors and apologize for collaborating with Kelly on “Do What U Want” from 2013’s Artpop.

“I made both the song and video at a dark time in my life," the singer said. "My intention was to create something extremely defiant and provocative because I was angry and still hadn’t processed the trauma that had occurred in my own life.”

Gaga also removed the song from iTunes and other streaming platforms.

King asked Kelly how he feels about the music industry and Lady Gaga's response to the accusations and streaming sites like Spotify pulling his music from playlists.

Kelly called the newly-minted Oscar winner “a very great talent,” but added it’s “unfortunate that her intelligence go [sic] to such a short level when it comes to that.”

The "I Believe I Can Fly" singer says he has nothing against Gaga, but says it's "not professional because something like this can happen to any artist. Anybody famous. Anybody famous can get accused of so many different things."

According to the Chicago Tribune, hours after the Gayle King interview, Kelly was booked on $160,000 worth of unpaid child support, and the Detroit police are reportedly looking into new allegations that Kelly abused a 13-year-old girl and gave her an STD in 2001.

CBS News will air Kelly's interview with King as an hour-long prime-time special on Friday, March 8 at 8pm ET. The special will feature interviews with two young women currently living with the singer.
