Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams Are Orthodox Jews, Lesbian Lovers, In “Disobedience”

The movie will be an adaptation of the popular novel of the same name.

Rachel Weisz and Rachel McAdams could soon be playing lovers who turn their Orthodox Jewish town upside down in the film Disobedience.

McAdams is currently in negotiations to star in the film adaptation of the Naomi Alderman novel, which Weisz is set to co-produce.

The story follows a young woman named Ronit (Weisz) who returns to her family home after the death of her estranged father and reignites a forbidden love affair with her best friend from childhood (McAdams), who also happens to be married to Ronit’s cousin.

As you may have guessed, the repressed romance causes turmoil in the conservative Orthodox Jewish community.

The film is slated to begin production at the start of 2017.
