Queer representation in Disney films has been growing over the last few years, though not all of it has been received positively by fans. But while viewers can be quick to point out something fishy, they also endorse representation when it hits the mark.

Recently, Ralph Breaks the Internet, the sequel to the 2012 film Wreck-It Ralph, has been amping up for its upcoming release on November 21. While the first movie focused on Ralph (John C. Reilly), a video game character who wanted to be a hero, in the sequel, Ralph and his friend and fellow video game character Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) leave the arcade to explore the internet. Joining the World Wide Web, the pair sees what the online universe has to offer, including a run-in with various Disney princesses.

Promo pictures released by Entertainment Weekly show a scene from the film where the Disney princesses lounge alongside Vanellope von Schweetz, who they've welcomed as a fellow princess. The internet looked closely, however, and thought Mulan—reclining in a beanbag, wearing a varsity-style jacket, high-top sneakers, and cuffed jeans—was giving off bisexual vibes. As many people pointed out, Mulan's appearance was also reminiscent of a post last year that suggested "cuffing [your] jeans and tucking in baggy shirts is bisexual culture."

This fan theory is a welcome one following the news of Shang's—Mulan's love interest in the original animated Disney film—erasure from the live-action Mulan film, set to release in 2020.
