“I’m mad [director Josh Mond] cut out my kissing scenes with David [Call],” said Cudi. “We made out so many times — and it was so good! That’s my only gripe.”

Unlike some hip-hop artists uncomfortable with LGBT representations, the “Day ‘n’ Nite” singer (real name Scott Mescudi) says he was glad to play gay in the movie, which also stars Ron Livingston, Cynthia Nixon and Christopher Abbott in the lead role.

“This was way different than anything else I’ve ever done,” he said on the James White red carpet. “It was dope to do that. I felt like I had a responsibility to present a different walk in life from that world.”

James White's  Kickstarter campaign descripes it as “a frenetic coming of age story about a young New Yorker struggling to take control of his reckless, self-destructive behavior in the face of momentous family challenges.”
