Raven-Symone On Her Sexuality: I'm Tired Of Being Labeled As Gay

Oprah Winfrey sat down with Raven-Symonè on Sunday's episode of Where Are They Now, and asked the That's So Raven star whether her 2013 tweet about how she could "finally get married" following the repeal of DOMA was her way of coming out as a lesbian.

"That was my way of saying I'm proud of the country," the 28-year-old actress explained, "but I will say I'm in an amazing, happy relationship with my partner, a woman." Raven has previously been linked with former America's Next Top Model contestant AzMarie Livingston.

But don't expect details of their relationship—Raven's determined not to be tabloid fodder: "My mother and people in my family they've taught me to keep my personal life to myself as much as possible," she says. "So I try my best to hold the fence where I can. But I'm proud to be who I am and what I am."

While she's happy about her relationship, she insists it doesn't define her. "I don't want to be labeled as gay," she says. "I want to be labeled as a human who loves humans. I'm tired of being labeled. I'm an American. I'm not an African-American, I'm an American."

"Oh girl, don't set the Twitter on fire," Oprah responded. "You are going to get a lot of flack for saying you're not African-American. You know that, right?"
