Raven-Symoné Voices Concerns Over Caitlyn Jenner's "Too Fast, Too Soon" Transition

"It's amazing what you can look like with a lot of money," was just one of the shady remarks made by Raven-Symoné in discussing Caitlyn Jenner earlier this week on The View.

Raven–who counts herself amongst the LGBT community–stumbled to put her thoughts together in discussing the premiere of the E! docu-series I Am Cait, admitting she only watched the last 15 minutes.

"I appreciate all she's going to do. I think it's wonderful. I just am surprised how many girlfriends she has all of the sudden."

This evoked sparse, nervous chuckles from the audience.

"I'm also surprised how she's sharing these stories all of the sudden."

"What do you mean 'all of these stories'?" co-host Michelle Collins interjected.

"Stories of other people in the community and the struggle and the transition," Raven explained. "I think it's wonderful and yes, it needs a light shined on it, it's just a lot for me in one show and you just came out and you're just doing this now. When I came out, I didn't go and go hardcore and be like 'I'm going to save the world for LGBT.' You gotta learn it first."

"Maybe she was just waiting for the proper platform,"co-host Rosie Perez offered. "Maybe she was just being strategic, no?"

Raven then launched in about Caitlyn's lack of "repping" the community prior to her transition. While this could have been the case, it seems a bit off-base for Raven to criticize her for not speaking forth during a time when she had not yet found her voice.

"It's too fast, too soon," she concluded.

Perez, a longtime AIDS activist and supporter of the LGBT community, weighed in once more.

Coming out is a really big issue. In my opinion, I think everyone needs their own time. They need their own time and they need to go at their own pace because sometimes if you force it it can backfire and sometimes if you hold back it can backfire. It's hard to walk in someone's shoes and judge them.

All in all, it's still a great thing.
