Anthony Ma Searches For Fame—And Love—In "Before I Got Famous"

"Also, I'm gay. Please don't tell my dad."

In a time when we need to see diversity on our screens more than ever, queer streaming service Revry is stepping up to the plate with a new original series featuring a gay Chinese protagonist.

Before I Got Famous follows the story of Alex (Anthony Ma), a 21-year-old actor who leaves China to pursue a career in Hollywood. Things don't go as smoothly as he had hoped, however, when he quickly realizes that the city is already a sea of other attractive actors he's now competing with.

The comedy also takes a look at the prejudice that Asians face, not only in the United States, but within the LGBT community itself. The story explores Alex's dating life as he tries to find a boyfriend who doesn't come with preconceived stereotypes about Asian men.

The series was written by Q. Allen Brocka, the creator of the Eating Out franchise, and will be released globally on August 25 on Revry.
