Director Richard Linklater Wants You To "Pee With LGBT" And Fight Texas' Bathroom Bill

"You gotta take a seat to make a stand."

Texas is in danger of passing a bathroom bill like North Carolina's HB 2. So the ACLU of Texas and nonprofit Legacy Community Health are using two new weapons to spread their message against the bill: Oscar-nominated director Richard Linklater and bathroom humor.

The Austin-based filmmaker has helmed a new ad titled "Taking A Seat, Making A Stand," which criticizes Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's bathroom bill, SB 6.

"You've got to roll up your sleeves. Pull down your pants and pee with LGBT," says a man at the opening of the video, before a woman adds: "You gotta take a seat to make a stand."

The clip also brings up how much a bill like SB6 costs.

"Money should be spent keeping kids in school, not out of bathrooms," a woman in a school hallway tells the audience watching the video.

"You've gotta spray it to say it," says a man in a suit who reappears later informing viewers that "SB6 threatens Texas businesses."

"Because we damn sure we ain't gonna end up like North Carolina," says a gruff cowboy.
