Anti-LGBT Governor Rick Perry Confirmed For ABC's "Dancing With The Stars"
Former Texas governor Rick Perry has been confirmed as one of the "celebrities" appearing on the next season of ABC's Dancing with the Stars.
The ex-pol, one of the most rabidly anti-LGBT politicians in the union, says he's using the show as a platform to help veterans.
In his time in Austin, he helped make Texas one of the least gay-friendly states in the union. He's endorsed conversion therapy and compared homosexuality to alcoholism.
“I might have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that. And I look at the homosexual rights issue the same way."
Perry also expressed outrage when a judge deemed Texas’ ban on same-sex marriage unconstitutional, insisting "it is not the role of the federal government to overturn the will of our citizens.”
He wants states to have the right to define marriage for themselves, saying “the idea that one size fits all coming out of Washington, D.C., is not going to work."
Joining Perry on DWTS is disgraced Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, who is being paired with a returning Cheryl Burke.
"I’m definitely really excited. This is completely new for me," said the 32-year-old athlete. "I think it’s time for me to hang up the Speedo and put on my dancing shoes and get in that ballroom."
Lochte, of course, has become Public Enemy Number One after misrepresenting an incident in Rio where he and fellow swimmers trashed a gas-station bathroom and claimed they were robbed. (Note: This is not the image rehab we suggested.)
On the plus side, ally and self-proclaimed bad bitch Amber Rose is putting on her dancing shoes, as are Marilu Henner, Brady Bunch alum Maureen McCormick and Babyface.
