On Wednesday, failed presidential candidate Rick Santorum spent two hours speaking about leadership to students at Grosse Pointe South High School in an affluent suburb of Detroit. For spreading his brand of shameless bureaucratese dressed up as wisdom, Rick Santorum collected just under 39 percent of Grosse Pointe high school teachers’ median annual salary—or $18,000.

Santorum’s appearance sparked controversy two weeks ago and ultimately students were required to obtain permission slips from their parents to hear the former senator speak.

Without a single mention of the spooky gays and their gay marriage ruining America, the majority of Santorum’s message focused on perseverance and standing up for your beliefs.

“If America is going to change and get better, healthier, I think young people are the absolute keys to making that happen,” Santorum told hundreds of students gathered in the gymnasium.

Considering 70 percent of millennials now support same-sex marriage, it’s a wonder that the guy would encourage such radical thinking.
