It looks like the third season of American Crime Story is going to be as star-studded as Ryan Murphy’s other television projects.
In addition to already announced stars like Penelope Cruz and Darren Criss, Ricky Martin has now joined the season focused on the murder of fashion designer Gianni Versace.

The out singer will play Antonio D’Amico, the longtime partner of the designer.
Versace marks the third installment of the Emmy award-winning American Crime Story anthology, following last year’s People V. O.J. Simpson and the forthcoming second season, which will center on the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.

As previously reported, “the third season will explore the murder of iconic fashion designer Gianni Versace, who was killed on the steps of his Miami home by Andrew Cunanan in 1997. Versace will be played by Venezuelan actor Edgar Ramirez (Joy, The Girl on the Train) while former Glee star Criss will portray Cunanan.”
Cruz has signed onto play Versace’s sister, Donatella.

This isn’t the first time Martin has stepped in front of the camera for Murphy. In 2012 he a played sexy Spanish teacher on Glee, performing a Splangish version of LMFAO’s “Sexy and I Know It” and “La Isla Bonita” by Madonna.
We’re guessing there won’t be any musical numbers for him to perform this time around.
In addition to his role on the FX series, Martin also recently announced he was engaged to his boyfriend Jwan Yosef and has signed a deal for a Las Vegas residency.
Versace: American Crime Story is scheduled to begin production in May and will premiere in 2018 on FX.
