The Most visible protest for the Sochi Olympics has been Principle 6, which references the Olympic Charter:
Any form of discrimination with regard to a country or a person on grounds of race, religion, politics, gender or otherwise is incompatible with belonging to the Olympic Movement.
Numerous athletes, from Greg Louganis to Nick Symmonds, from Chris Kluwe to Jason Collins have posed in the gear, and now Rihanna has added her voice to the campaign to protect LGBT athletes and LGBT Russians with this picture on her Instagram wearing the Alexander Wang beanie that is being sold to raise money for the cause.
She also included a link to Frank Bruni of the New York Times talking about the campaign. This comes shortly after Blabbeando wrote an article wondering if Rihanna and Shakira, in the wake of their lesbian-baiting video for “Can’t Remember To Forget You” would stand unequivocally for gay rights to their legions of fans in the Caribbean and South America.
