Danger Looms In "Riverdale" Season 2 Trailer

What does this mean for Kevin Keller?

Archie and the gang are back—and they are in trouble.

When Riverdale premiered viewers were treated to a moody and dark take on the classic Archie characters in a first season that dealt with sex, secrets and a mysterious town murder.

On October 11, Archie, Betty, Veronica and the rest of the gang are back for the second season of Riverdale, and judging from the new season trailer it doesn't look like things are going to get an easier for the teens.

Archie is still reeling from his father being shot in the season one finale, and this preview features some quick sexy scenes like an Archie and Veronica hookup in the shower, but it mostly focuses on Archie and his friends in the hospital waiting to see if his dad will survive from the shooting.

Riverdale's resident gay, Kevin Keller (Casey Cott), is absent from the trailer, but there should be plenty in store for him since Cott was upgraded to a series regular for the new season.

Fans have been waiting to see if Riverdale goes the supernatural route, following in the footsteps of the popular Afterlife With Archie comic series. Riverdale creator Roberto Aguirre Sacasa teased a sinister new character named the Sugar Man, that has a connection to Cheryl and Jason Blossom:

Sacasa has also been tweeting script cover pages with titles like "House of the Devil" and "Tales from the Darkside" so it looks like Riverdale might be headed to darker, supernatural territory.

Even if Riverdale doesn't incorporate zombies and horror into the episodes just yet, the show's companion series, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, a horror take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch, should cast a spell over viewers when it premieres next year.
