Robin Williams Plays Closeted Husband In Final Film, “Boulevard," Coming In July

Starz Digital has picked up the North American rights to Robin Williams' final film, Boulevard.

Directed by Dito Montiel (A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints), the film sees Williams as married but closeted Nashville bank manager Nolan Mack, whose life is forever changed when he picks up young hustler Leo (Roberto Aguire).

But instead of paying Leo for his body, Nolan just wants some of his time and companionship.

"For me it was about letting go and holding on, the weird push and pulls of life, when it comes to anything from a job to a relationship—the thin line," Montiel says. "It didn't matter all that much that he was gay."

Kathy Baker co-stars as Williams' wife and Bob Odenkirk (Better Call Saul) plays a concerned friend.

Boulevard had its world premiere at the 2014 Tribeca Film Festival and received positive reviews. “The actor projects a regret so deep and identifiable, viewers should have no trouble connecting it to whatever is missing in their own lives,” wrote Peter Debruge in Variety.

“We are very excited... to get this beautiful movie out there,” said producer Monica Aguirre Diez Barroso. “Through Boulevard, Dito was able to capture Robin Williams at his best.”

The film will open in New York and other cities on July 17.
