Robyn fans, rejoice: The beloved pop star is back and ready for action with a new short film for “Missing U,” her forthcoming single.
Known for chart-toppers like “Dancing On My Own” and “Hang With Me,” Robyn has taken an eight-year hiatus from full-length releases since 2010’s Body Talk, her last studio album.
But the Swedish pop sensation confirmed on Twitter that she’s gearing up to release another studio album this year—much to the delight of her fans, who haven’t heard new music from Robyn since her 2017 single “Honey.”
In anticipation of “Missing U,” dropping this Wednesday, Robyn released a 7-minute film on YouTube. The heartwarming video teases the track, offering snippets of the audio and Robyn’s analysis as she surprises super-fans at a Robyn-themed club in Brooklyn.
“’Missing U’ is about this trippy thing that happens when people disappear,” she says in the video. “It’s like they almost become more clear. It’s like you see them everywhere.”
“It’s also maybe a message to my fans,” she adds, smiling, “that I’ve missed them.”
Watch the short film below, and look out for “Missing U,” which drops August 1.
