"Roseanne" Canceled at ABC

So long, Lanford.

Following Roseanne Barr's Twitter tirade this morning, including a racist "Planet of the Apes" tweet about former President Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, ABC has canceled the highly rated Roseanne revival.

“Roseanne’s Twitter statement is abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values, and we have decided to cancel her show,” Channing Dungey, president of ABC, said in a single sentence statement.

Roseanne was the most watched show of the year, pulling in 27.3 million viewers during the season premiere, but even stellar ratings weren't worth it for ABC to keep the Connors on the air.

On Tuesday morning Barr tweeted out racist remarks against former President Obama aide Valerie Jarrett, while also attacking Hillary and Chelsea Clinton.

Out comedian Wanda Sykes, who is a consulting producer on the revival of Barr’s hit sitcom, Roseanne, tweeted that she would not be returning to the series in the fall.

In the fallout of the tweets, series star and executive producer Sara Gilbert tweeted out: “This is incredibly sad and difficult for all of us, as we’ve created a show that we believe in, are proud of, and that audiences love— one that is separate and apart from the opinions and words of one cast member.”

After Roseanne's monster ratings, the revival was quickly renewed for another season, which was set to debut this fall, but now ABC has pulled the plug. Fans of the sitcom might be sad to say goodbye to the Connors, but some, like RuPaul's Drag Race judge Michelle Visage, are happy to see Barr's racist remarks have repercussions:
