"Roseanne" Spinoff "The Conners" Officially on, Minus Barr

Barr will not have any creative or financial involvement in the show, due to start airing in the fall.

A Roseanne spinoff minus the show's former star, tentatively called The Conners, is officially a go at ABC. Barr, whose racist and conspiratorial tweets led to the Roseanne reboot's cancellation, will have no creative or financial involvement in the new series.

The network has ordered 10 episodes, it announced on Thursday night, which will begin airing in fall during the same Tuesday at 8pm slot Roseanne would have occupied. Barr will still retain all rights to her Roseanne Conner character and any future spinoffs beyond The Conners, as well as any future reboots of the original, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

"I regret the circumstances that have caused me to be removed from Roseanne. I agreed to the settlement in order that 200 jobs of beloved cast and crew could be saved, and I wish the best for everyone involved,” Barr said in a statement.

John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, Lecy Goranson, and Michael Fishman will star in the new spinoff.

"We have received a tremendous amount of support from fans of our show, and it’s clear that these characters not only have a place in our hearts, but in the hearts and homes of our audience," they said in a joint statement. "We all came back last season because we wanted to tell stories about the challenges facing a working-class family today. We are so happy to have the opportunity to return with the cast and crew to continue to share those stories through love and laughter.”
