Rosie O’Donnell And Sean Hayes Join “Hairspray Live!”

This cast keeps getting better and better!

Everything’s coming up Rosie in Baltimore!

During NBC’s presentation at the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday the peacock network announced that Rosie O’Donnell and Sean Hayes have joined the cast of the already star-studded Hairspray Live!

Hayes will play Mr. Pinky, the dress shop owner who sponsors Tracy Turnbladt when she becomes a local Baltimore celebrity and O’Donnell will fill the role of the school’s sadistic gym teacher. In the stage version the actress who played the gym teacher also played Mrs. Pingleton (Penny’s uptight mother) and the prison warden. No word on whether O’Donnell will also play all three roles.

This latest casting news comes on the heels of the announcement that Dove Cameron would play Velma von Tussle and Garrett Clayton would take on the role of Link Larkin.

Executive producers Neil Meron and Craig Zadan also confirmed during the panel that two songs from the 2007 movie musical remake would make their way into the live TV version.
