Ruby Rose Calls Off Engagement To Phoebe Dahl
Ruby Rose is back on the market after calling off her engagement to designer Phoebe Dahl.
“After two wonderful years together, Ruby and I have decided to part ways,” Dahl's rep told Us Weekly in a prepared statement. “While we still love each other and support each other in every way, it is our mutual decision to part ways. Our break is not the result of any media speculation, and we want nothing but the best for each other. Thank you for respecting our privacy in this very difficult time.”
Rose took to Facebook to issue a statement/further add fuel to the speculative fire.
The pair began dating in January, 2014 and announced their engagement shortly thereafter in March. They met when friends of Rose's brought her along to a barbecue Dahl was hosting.
"The second I saw Ruby, I completely fell for her," Dahl told Out back in January. "It sounds corny, but it was love at first sight. Apparently, she felt the same thing."
Dahl continued to gush over Rose, saying she is "the most beautiful creature in the world," that "she just glows."
Rose was equally enthusiastic at the time: "What’s worked for Phoebe and me is that we knew we’d be spending a lot of time apart because of our work," she said. "It’s the unique things about each person that bring you together, so if you compromise yourself and turn into the other person, that can be the beginning of the end. We keep our independence, but we’ve made the decision that we’re going to be together."
The engagement lasted 21 months.
