Rufus Wainwright will exchange vows with his longtime partner Jorn Weisbrodt in a private ceremony this week. The handsome pair—an item for more than five years—got engaged 2010, and in February 2011 they welcomed a baby into their lives, Viva Katherine Wainwright Cohen, with biological mother Lorca Cohen, daughter of Leonard Cohen.
Page Six reveals that the happy couple will wed on Thursday at their home in Montauk, New York. Following the ceremony, guests like Carrie Fisher and Yoko Ono will get down on the dance floor at the Shagwong Tavern on Main Street. Speaking of the venerable restaurant and watering hole as his choice to host the reception, Wainwright tells the Post, “It’s filthy and smelly and, once again, sexy. It has some of that Montauk funk, which is why we’re all out here.”
As someone who knows what he’s talking about, Elton John once referred to Wainwright as the “greatest songwriter on the planet.” Earlier this year, Wainwright released album entitled Out of the Game, his seventh. The music video for the lead single stars the chameleon-like Helena Bonham Carter.
