Rufus Wainwright To Restage Judy Garland's Famous Carnegie Hall Concert

Dust off your ruby slippers!

A decade ago Rufus Wainwright recreated the legendary 1961 concert Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall to critical acclaim. His sold-out concert became a Grammy-nominated live album and he took his show on the road, performing it in London, Paris and L.A.

Now the "April Fool's Day" singer is about to do it all over again to mark the show's ten-year anniversary.

“A lot has happened in 10 years on all fronts and musically this show will reflect that,” Wainwright told Entertainment Weekly. “This brilliant material was constructed to widen and deepen with age and I’m looking forward to the experience of singing these songs again, myself being more experienced."

Garland's famous April 23, 1961 concert, Judy at Carnegie Hall, has gained legendary status over the years, having been called "the greatest night in show business history." Widely regarded as the singer's comeback performance, the sold-out show was released as a live album and went onto win four Grammys, including Album of the Year.

Wainwright will perform his Judy tribute at Carnegie Hall on June 16 and 17, and in Toronto on June 23 and 24.
