RuPaul Is Dripping in Diamonds on “Vanity Fair” January 2020 Cover

Cover girl! Put the bass in your walk!

RuPaul is stomping down off the runway and on your local newsstand.

A day after Netflix dropped the first teaser for RuPaul's upcoming series AJ and the Queen, the supermodel of the world revealed she was the cover girl for Vanity Fair's January 2020 issue.

Ru's dazzling photos for the magazine were shot by the legendary Annie Leibovitz, and the pics are gag-worthy to say the least.

The cover profile is written by Vanity Fair's chief movie critic, Richard Lawson, who talks about a variety of topics with the Emmy-winning host, including the past decade of Drag Race, how cell phones have ruined performing in clubs, and, of course, AJ and the Queen.

“This show isn’t about a drag queen in a kids show. This is about a kid in a drag queen’s show. It’s edgy, and it has some dark themes in there," Ru says in the interview. “It was something I was eager to explore. To prove to myself that I’m not dead inside. I proved to myself that I could pull those emotions up. It’s intoxicating.”

Michael Patrick King, the co-creator and executive producer of the series, also commented on how Ru's performance in the show surprised everyone—including the queen of queens herself: “After [Ru] saw the first episode, he turned to me and said, ‘I thought this was going to be the show where I revealed myself to the world. It turns out it’s the show where I reveal myself to myself.’”
