RuPaul always cites Bugs Bunny as her gateway into the world of drag—but if you think about it,dressing in drag has been common throughout animation history, even in Disney films.
Self-proclaimed Disney “freak,” Edgardo Arredondo, posted a mashup online of Disney characters donning drag with snippets of RuPaul from behind the Drag Race judges table telling the cartoon children to serve and work it on the runway.
Who are the queens competing for the Disney edition of Drag Race? You have Jeanie (the Genie from Aladdin), Kuzco from Emperor’s New Groove, Robin Hoe (Robin Hood dressed as a fortune teller), and our favorite: Pleakley from Lilo & Stitch, whose love for wigs we are sure influenced many a baby drag queen back in the day.
Don’t get us wrong, this is a very strong cast, but we think there are even more queen contenders from Disney history who could become America’s next drag superstar:
Timon, who would kill a hula number up on the mainstage.
Mr. Toad looks pretty good in a wig and heels—just don’t ask him to drive.
Hunchback of Notre Dame’s Hugo has got his Esmeralda character for Snatch Game.
And Hector, from Coco, makes a very convincing Frida Kahlo.
But our money is still on Pleakley to take the crown.
RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars Season 3 airs Thursdays at 8/7c on VH1.
