This Sickening “Drag Race” Lego Set Is One Step Closer To Becoming A Reality

The project has been submitted to the Lego Reviews Board.

Following in the footsteps of other icons like Spice Girls and The Golden Girls, the queens of RuPaul’s Drag Race are finally getting the Lego treatment.

Last year, self-proclaimed Drag Race mega-fan Mark Fitzpatrick submitted his Lego Ideas project for a “RuPaul’s Brick Race” set.

The set was such a big hit with fans that it received more than 10,000 supporters and has qualified for the Third 2017 Review, “which includes projects that reach 10,000 supporters between early September and early January.”

“The review is a thorough process and from its start it can take several months. When finished, we make a “go/no go” decision to develop and sell a product based on ’RuPaul’s Brick Race,'” wrote the Lego Ideas team.

The other sets up for review along with “Brick Race” include a lighthouse and the house from A Christmas Story.

“RuPaul’s Brick Lane” not only comes with Ru himself, but also past queens like Bianca Del Rio, Katya and others in their “Snatch Game” getups (retitled “Clutch Game” for the Lego version).

“’RuPaul’s Brick Race’ includes a cast of fan favorites who can prepare for, and compete in, ’Clutch Game’—a family-friendly equivalent of a popular celebrity impersonation challenge from the series (in the style of Match Game and Blankety-Blanks),” Fitzpatrick wrote on the project’s Lego Ideas page.

“Comprised of a backstage Workroom and Main Stage, this model attempts to fuse the colours, fun, creativity and humour of the RuPaul and Lego universes,” added Fitzpatrick. “At its core, the subject material this set is based on is whimsical, colourful and full of life and I think these are qualities that marry well with the medium of Lego.”

To thank all of his supporters, Fitzpatrick created a Sasha minifigure, based on her “So Emotional” lip sync from the Season 9 finale. Hopefully Sasha will make it into the final set.

Even though the set is up for review right now it will still be awhile before you are able to own your very own “Brick Race.” Lego said if the set is green-lit then it will go into development phase which “takes several months.”

Lego is expected to announce the results of the review this summer.
