“RuPaul’s Drag Race” Recap: Season 9, Episode 12, “Category Is”

“It’s going to be the extra-fiercest finale ever!”

Category is: Final four fantasy.

On the latest installment of The Pit Stop, season 3 winner Raja sits down with sis Manila Luzon to break down the latest episode of RuPaul’s Drag Race, including the extremely challenging challenge of writing, recording, and performing a new verse for RuPaul’s jam “Category Is” with help from YouTube sensation Todrick Hall.

Sure, snaps all around for Shea Coulée, who slayed and won her fourth challenge, but does winning challenges translate to winning the competition?

“Winning the challenges helps your game,” says Manila, “but I do believe that it has absolutely nothing to do when it comes down to the queen who wins the season.”

The squirrel friends also gag over the epic eleganza extravaganza that exploded on the runway—“This is the dress that you’ve had in the back of the rack that you’ve been saving,” Manila notes—although not all looks earned 10s across the board.

Do Raja and Manila support RuPaul’s surprise save? Which performance reminded them of Liza Minnelli? And how did they like them apples?

Get the answers to those questions and more in a new episode of The Pit Stop below.
