Clockwise from left: Jujubee, Tyra Sanchez, Raven, Tracks’ resident diva Felony Misdemeanor and Ginger Sexton — all backstage at Tracks. Meowwwww!
And they’re off!!!! Yup, the moment that America has been waiting for came to Denver this past Friday night. The RuPaul’s Drag Race Tour (sponsored by Absolut, thanks) kicked off at Tracks and about a zillion crazy, blissful die-hard fans packed the house to catch Season 2’s big winner — and America’s Next Drag Superstar — Tyra Sanchez live and in person!
Joining Miss Tyra were her Drag Race runner-ups Raven and Jujubee, as well as Tracks’ own resident queen Felony Misdemeanor and another Denver diva, Ginger Sexton. Onstage, Tyra served some Rihanna and a little Beyonce (shocker!); and Raven got a little bit country, and the fab Jujubee served up that peach Imelda Marcos prom dress we all loved and major lip-synch skills.
Watch NewNowNext PopLab on Logo on June 1st and you can see what went down. The show is hosted by Felony Misdemeanor and follows all the girls around backstage and just gets all deep into the dragginess. Set your DVRs!!!!
Check out our full album of photos after the jump, and then get ready because the Absolut-fueled Drag Race Tour is hitting up San Francisco (May 19), West Hollywood (May 21), Dallas, Asbury Park (NJ), Boston and Chicago in the next few weeks. Check the tour dates!
The stage is set at Tracks. Bring on the girls!
Yowch!!! That’s a big bottle.
Juju is all, “I’m here. Let’s do this, aight?????”
The joint fills up…
Some wardrobe bits are scattered about the dressing room, waiting…
Oh hell, then BAMMM!!! Rihanna, er… Tyra hits the stage.
And whoa! People go nuts, as Tyra serves up some “Hard” Rihanna. She also did the live version of Beyonce’s “Sweet Dreams.”
Here’s a backstage peek at Tyra’s fake boob action. Can ya handle it? (Meanwhile, Juju and Raven get ready…)
It takes a lot of product to make these girls into the glamazons that you know and love…
Raven delivers Shania Twain’s “Man I Feel Like a Woman.” And the crowd clearly feels it, too.
I like to think of this as the “What about ME? What about JUJUBEEEEEEEE???” moment right before Tyra slaps her.
Meanwhile, out on stage Raven’s got a new look and keeps busy collecting the coins, children.
And finally, here’s one last family portrait, as the gals pose with Logo marketing diva Erin O’Keefe. Well done, ladies!!! And I’m loving the cameo by Felony Misdemeanor’s pump in this one. Is she passed out just out of frame???
