Besides, Season 2 of this wig-flipping drag queen reality show doesn't really begin airing until February so you've got a bit of a wait. And get a glimpse at more of the gals after jump!
RuPaul's Drag Race, Season 2!!! Get an Absolut First Look Now! Vrooommm!!!!
Oh, hell... It begins again. Today it's time to get a sneak peek at the hot, delicious, steaming tranny glamazons hurtling your way in spike heels for the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race.
This time around there are 12 girls scratching for the crown; and they look pretty twisted and amazing. In the Absolut First Look clip above (cheers!) you also get a quick glimpse of some of Season 2's guest hosts which include Kathy Griffin, Dita Von Teese, Debbie Reynolds, Cloris Leachman and Henry Rollins, for starters. And judges Santino Rice and fashion journalist Meryl Ginsberg are both back too.
From the looks of the clip above, it looks like we're getting more gloss, more acrobatics (splits!), messy drama, maybe a medical emergency and some bitch-slappery!
Congratulations are in order for Ms. Jessica Wild! The fierce performer has been selected by voters to be a contestant on the upcoming season of RuPaul's Drag Race! That's her in the above clip announcing that she won... Hopefully she'll improve her camera skills before the show actually starts. She's an insanely intense performer, so I imagine she'll be bringing a lot of energy to the show next season.
Hopefully she'll also prove to the people who voted for her that she deserves to be on the show, but something tells me we don't have anything to worry about. Just like last season's fan pick, season one runner up Nina Flowers, Jessica Wild hails from Puerto Rico and girl knows how to perform!
Jessica Wild: She's pretty... But can she lip-synch for her life?
Head on over to the RuPaul Casting website to see videos of JW performing at various shows. Girl is going to bring it!
RuPaul's Drag Race Hopeful Arrested for Assaulting Mayor! Meow!
And you thought Shannel was intense juggling on the runway!!!! The mayor of Mulberry, Florida (a nice little town near Tampa) was attacked by his live-in lover, who just happens to be campaigning to be a contest on the next season of RuPaul's Drag Race. Watch out, Ru! Chyna might be coming for you!
According to 10 Connects local news in Tampa, Mulberry Mayor Julian Mullis lives with his two kids, and his lover Eugene Ornelas. Early Monday morning, Ornelas brought a guy home from a club, and soon after he and the Mayor got into a argument. Soon, "articles" were being thrown (pumps? wigs? shade?) and the police were called. Evidently, it's not Ornelas' first run-in with the cops.
Ornelas is also known as the drag performer Chyna, who just happens to be putting his heels in the ring to appear on Season 2 of RuPaul's Drag Race! You can check out Chyna's pics, her video links and view her profile now! In fact, Chyna had been using her Twitter account to boost her votes. Attagirl!
Drag Race hopeful Chyna: Glamorous... and dangerous?
Sounds like somebody's going to be testifying... for her life.
RuPaul Reveals Her Secret to Looking Good on Camera at the NewNowNext Awards
Once again, a new clip has surfaced from this weekend's upcoming NewNowNext Awards, and this time, RuPaul pokes fun at the often-times obnoxious overuse of soft focus on Drag Race. I'm glad she's poking fun at this, because seriously, sometimes I couldn't tell if I was watching RuPaul or Tyra Banks the shot was so fuzzy. Meh, at this point, Tyra practically is a drag queen, so who knows if it was her?
Be sure to check out the the cameo from Season One finalist Rebecca Glasscock in the video as well. The 2009 NewNowNext Awards airs on-air and here online this Saturday, June 13th at 9pm EST.
Drag Race Winner Bebe Zahara Benet Heads into the Studio
Bebe and her music man Mark Picchiotti
Exciting news boys and girls: The African Queen herself, America’s Next Superstar Drag Queen Miss Bebe Zahara Benet will be teaming up with official RuPaul’s Drag Race Winner's Tour DJ Mark Picchiotti to produce new music!
The DJ and international diva met at the “RuPaul’s Drag Race” finale/tour launch party in Manhattan earlier this spring. DJ and producer Mark Picchiotti has produced song for Kylie Minogue and mixed everyone from Beyonce to The Killers. The two apparently have hit it off on her winner's tour, as Bebe will be branching out in the world of music directly after her appearance at Asbury Park, New Jersey’s Club Paradise this Friday.
I imagine lots of fierce dance tracks with music videos filled with gaudy outfits, and, of course, BIG hair. Who knows, maybe she'll surprise us again with her awesome rap skills? Regardless, I'm sure the rising star will make her mentor proud.
Check out Bebe showing off her "face, face" and rapping in RuPaul's "Covergirl" after the jump.
RuPaul's "Jealous of My Boogie" Video - Starring ChiChi LaRue!
RuPaul asked Hollywood's other big drag queen, porn empress Chi Chi LaRue to star in the official video for Ru's new single "Jealous of My Boogie." And Ms. LaRue does make a fun villainess, who apparently does boast a bit of Ru envy.
Here's a cute pic of the two on set. Ru's as stylish as ever in his dapper man-drag.
I'm sure I'm not allowed to pick favorites (and goodness knows the girls don't need MY help), but I do appreciate a queen who posts some genius video. The standings change daily, but leading the pack as I write this is India (who's working a hot papi headshot at the moment), with over 15,000 votes. Then comes Empress Fontaine (such a lady, indeed) snagging just under 15,000.
And then comes #3 and #4. In the third spot comes the Puerto Rican sparkler, Madame LaQueer, who is also very tight with Ms. Nina Flowers. I like her. I feel like she particularly excels in the interview video. Watch above! The checkerboard hoodie look deserves an award all its own.
Then in 4th place (for now) you'll find NYC's own Mimi Imfurst, who is a force to be reckoned with, herself. I've seen her perform enough to know she's talented, funny, strong-willed and would make for some seriously entertaining TV. She co-hosted a RuPaul's Drag Race Season 1 Finale party in NYC; watch her below in the clip. She's the mama with the big, high hair. Delicious!
Now, go to the RuPaulCasting.com site and VOTE for who you love. Only 39 days until Round One ends! And click around there, cuz there are some glamorous and crazy beeyotches to check out.
RuPaul's Drag Race, Season 2: Let the Casting Begin! Submit Your Video!
Drag queens, start your engines!!! And your video camera! And blow out those weaves!!!! It's time for the casting battle to choose the divas/contestants for the second season of RuPaul's Drag Race to begin!!! Meow!
The RuPaul's Drag Race casting site is open for business! Submit your video! Create a profile! Tell the world (and the show's producers) why you deserve a crack at becoming America's next drag superstar!!! Then get all your messy friends to go and vote for you!
Last season, the viciously delectable Nina Flowers was cast on the show thanks to her participation in the casting site, and that loca chica almost won the whole she-bang!!! Above, watch a clip of her telling you how to get your drag engines running.
Click through for detailed info on how the Drag Race casting process works as well as casting rules, and what your video needs to include; Round 1 ends on June 24th. There's also an approved song list of the tunes you're allowed to lip-synch to as part of your entry video. So pay attention, and DON'T F*CK IT UP!
And below... My personal fave of last season's entries, the big and brilliant Miss Lotus Mandalay!
Bebe Zahara Benet On Tour! Plus, Rebecca Glasscock! And Interviews!
It's like stumbling across a hidden gem! I did these interviews last week with the RuPaul's Drag Race winner Bebe Zahara Benet and the #3 draglette, Rebecca Glasscock, and amid all the frenzy over Bebe winning and other stuff, I'm just now getting them posted. But these broads are timeless, so no matter!
Above, Bebe opines on her own fabulousness and what's next for her... Catch Bebe tonight in Chicago as she hits the road with the big Absolut Real Fruit Tour, part of her prize for winning Ru's big drag battle. This weekend the tour takes her to Miami, and in two weeks she heads to SF and LA. It's like a traveling Glamapalooza!
Below, Rebecca tells us what she's up to now, living in NYC. She's hosting karaoke in Queens at the Lavish Lounge! And she's got advice for eager little drag beavers who wanna sign up for Drag Race, Season 2!
If you couldn't cram in to NYC's Therapy bar on Monday night for the big RuPaul's Drag Race finale party (and for all I know you were there, it was so damned packed) have a look at the lil' video above to get a sense of the vibe.
The crowd was rabid and the evening's hostesses, the estimable Eve Starr and the thrillingly hilarious Mimi Imfurst, were pretty damned fantastic. And they had the big winner Bebe Zahara Benet on hand, serving her with her big fat Absolut prize money check at show's end. (Actually, Absolut's Jeffrey Moran did the official hand-off.)
Gorgeous bad girl Rebecca Glasscock was in the house, too. Both Drag Racers performed for the crowd, and all around it was mayhem and bliss.
Bebe Zahara Benet, Rebecca Glasscock & Nina Flowers rock Night of 1,000 Gowns in NYC this past weekend!
SPOILER ALERT: Click on after the jump if you want to hear all about who won RuPaul's Drag Race. Plus, PHOTOS from the BIG FINALE EVENT IN NYC!!!! And video and drama galore from the Reunion Special!
Tonight's the big finale of RuPaul's Drag Race, so here's a little more RuPaul love for you. It's an interview that music artist and gay-land celebutante Ari Gold did with Ru recently. These two have been pals for years (Ari even pops up in Ru's freaky/trashy/fabulous film Starrbooty), so this is very much a gal-pal lovefest.
Ari and Ru take a mini-tour of the RuPaul-inspired drag art show at the World of Wonder gallery in Hollywood, then share tales of Diana Ross!
And both Ari and Ru have hot music videos out now. After the jump, watch Ari's Click List-topping single "Human." It's all very lush and twinkly and something of a tribute to queer art legend James Bidgood (shot by Aaron Cobbett).
Then go watch the crack-a-lackin' new video for Ru's "Jealous of My Boogie" which is sort of NSFW, with its mash-up of some straight porn star doing dirty stuff with twitchy Japanimation visuals. It's completely bizarre and sort of genius.
RuPaul's Drag Race Finale Is Monday! Cazwell Guest Judges! Plus: Bebe, Rebecca & Nina Live in NYC!
RuPaul and Cazwell: Big queens for a big finish!
AAAAAUUUGHHH! Monday night is the big finale of RuPaul's Drag Race. Who's gonna snatch the crown? Cameroon's own Bebe Zahara Benet? Puerto Rico & Denver's dainty devil, Senorita Nina Flowers? Or the Fort Lauderdale feline known as Rebecca Glasscock?
Who knows? I do know that NYC's own fantastic rapper/party-maven Cazwell is a guest judge on the big finale. FUN! What does Cazwell know about drag queens you might ask? Well, he's hosted nightlife events in the Big Apple for years, working closely with the likes of Amanda Lepore, the legendary Misstress Formika, Linda Simpson, Lady Bunny and more... So yes, Mr. Luke Cazwell knows his way around some tucked taquitos, OK?
Plus, if you've ever seen Cazwell host a live event you know he's funny as hell. So this oughtta be good.
Wanna sneak peek at Monday's big finale? Watch it here.
Here's to all the gals who didn't make the final nine list of queens who were indeed on RuPaul's Drag Race this season. As you prepare to find out which of the final three snatches the big crown (Nina? Bebe? Rebecca? Will Ongina stage a surprise return for the finale?) have a look above and this sassy montage of girls you could have been watching.
I think Lucky Deepford says it best: "My life in a nutshell -- and it's a BIG-ASS nutshell -- is school, drag, Miami Public Transportation, pilates, cupcakes and FACE!"
Last night's RuPaul's Drag Race saw a rainbow of fruit flavors explode all over the place, a vogue battle, a visit from Charo (who's quip about "forking" killed me), a shocking runway rant from Shannel, and another surprise as to who went home.
Above -- SPOILER ALERT -- you can see the dishy behind the scenes footage of the girls backstage as they're waiting to be judged. Shannel talks and talks about how frustrated she is, and Bebe and Nina give her props for speaking her mind to Ru and the judges. Rebecca, classically indifferent, puts on her head phones and tunes this mess out.
My favorite thing in the above "Under the Hood" clip is Nina cracking up at how Santino read her on the runway for wearing the same pumps for all three of her looks. "Loca! He let me have it!" She's hysterical.
After the jump, find out more about the episode, including the loser's exit interview. And beware there's a bunch of SPOILED FRUIT involved.
Shannel: "I am beautiful, no matter what they say..."
It's about time we got some full-on runway voguing on this here Drag Race, okaaayyyy? Yes, in Monday night's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, our four remaining divas-to-be begin the show with a very old-school challenge. Bebe, Nina, Shannel and Rebecca have got to turn it, work it, sell it and pop it, Paris-Is-Burning style.
And from the looks of it they rise to the occasion admirably. Even, Bebe who's all like "but - gasp! - I've never vogued, ever!" throws down like a full-fledged Extravaganza! And I was happy to see the usually stiff Rebecca get her pier-trade skills on fiercely, too!
RuPaul's Drag Race: Reunion Special! Submit Your Questions!
Got a question for Shannel, Bebe or Ongina? Ask away!!!
Attention Drag Racer Fans: There is indeed looking to be a special "Reunion" episode of RuPaul's Drag Race which will bring back all the girls for an on-camera sashay down memory lane, as they dish (and hopefully snatch off a wig or two) about all that's gone down on this season. The big event will air immediately following the Drag Race Mega-Finale on Monday, March 23rd!!!
WHAT WOULD YOU WANT TO ASK THEM?
Send in questions via comments on this post, or just email RuPaulsDragRace@gmail.com with your query for any of the dragsters or RuPaul, judges Santino Rice or Merle Ginsberg. Now's your chance to serve up probing inquiries such as...
Why was Ongina sent home? WTF?
Did any of the queens sleep with anyone on the set?
Did anybody steal anybody's lip liner?
Did Jade really have trouble tucking away her prodigious assets?
Who are the guys in Ru's pit crew and can we get a spin-off show with them?
Who did they all hate?
Can Tammie Brown come to my birthday party?
Go crazy with your suggestions! It's all good! And we need your questions by this Friday, March 6th!
SPOILER ALERT: The RuPaul's Drag Race girls endured another reality-TV rite of passage last night: They had to make over female fighters (who were both super-butch, but also very sweet and willing glam victims), turning them from tuff thugs to painted ladies.
But how do you feel about who got sent home? Are you ready to riot?
In the "Under the Hood" behind-the-scenes video above, the girls talk it out backstage while the judges deliberate. Shannel just talks and talks and talks (like she does -- oy!), Rebecca tosses a little shade Bebe's way, and Ongina's all like: "My hat cost $100!!!! I'm not cheap!"
RuPaul's Drag Race Preview: Butch Women & Warrior Princesses
Monday nights brings another heat of RuPaul's Drag Race to the world at large. And while they're gonna have a hard time topping this past week's tearjerker (Blame Ongina!), the prospects for amusing antics look pretty good.
First a crew of super-butch female jocks (boxers! fighters! martial artists! all scowling!) march in, and Bebe & Ongina and the gals all squeal and cower. (Ladies, get a grip!) Then they are forced into physical exertion (Punch! Kick! Pow!) and yelled at drill-sergeant style by said females. FUN!
But lest those tough female infiltrators get too hard-edged or uppity, the Drag Racers must then give these butch babes full on drag queen makeovers. Ah, yes... A reality show competition classic!
See more previews and a shot of the "Warrior Princess" guest judge after the jump!
Ongina Delivers $25,000 to the Harvey Milk School - In Fierce Heels!
Looks like the lovely RuPaul's Drag Race starlet Ongina is already busy with her new gig as a M.A.C Viva Glam spokesmodel (a title she won in this past week's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race). Yesterday, the petite drag powerhouse delivered a check for $25,000 from the M.A.C. AIDS Fund to the folks at NYC's Harvey Milk High School.
The school is a safe haven for at-risk LGBT kids, and the NY Times reports that about %25 of the students identify as transgender. So, yes they were happy to see the fabulous little Miss Ongina show up with some dough!
Ongina's a fan of the Harvey Milk School too, as she herself had a rough time of it, growing up gay in Washington State. During the check presentation yesterday, Ongina commented that she would have appreciated a “school that provided me as much of an education as a comfort zone.”
While at the school, Ongina talked to the kids and answered their questions: "What were his favorite makeup products (M.A.C C-Thru is her favorite lip gloss) and how long it takes to get into drag (two hours)." And yes, she was rocking a pair of Burberry Porsum patent stilettos at the time.
M•A•C MakeUp Tips from the Girls of RuPaul’s Drag Race
Flawless 101: Get some subtle, sophisticated makeup tips from the Drag Racers!
Ok, as much as I aspire to be a drag queen I don’t know a damn thing about makeup. But I know that hot women wear M•A•C (Dame Edna! RuPaul! Xtina! Hello Kitty!) and get really excited about it. Hot women also share their secrets on how to apply said makeup, so here are some dishy makeup tips from the beat broads of RuPaul’s Drag Race.
Some of these divas aren’t with us anymore (they’re not dead, they’re just not on the show, children!), but their legacy of fierce foundations and luscious lined lips lives on!!!
Wanna look your best when you head out of the house, painted up like a high-class ‘ho? Read on!
SPOILER ALERT: This one's hard not to reveal because there's so much to deal with from last night's RuPaul's Drag Race... So expect lots of drama after the jump!
Also there's a special link to a podcast interview with Ongina who had a major night. Above, watch the behind-the-scenes Under the Hood video, that shows all the bitchery going on backstage. Jade and Shannel tear into the judges, and at the end you see Ongina talk about her big moment.
SPOILER ALERT: If you haven't caught up on this past week's RuPaul's Drag Race, then hurry! Cuz Monday's new episode is hurling at you fast. Check the preview above!
For their first challenge this week, the girls have to pair up and do each other's makeup in a speedy 30 minutes. Wha? Can a scratching, clawing queen hellbent on victory be counted on to paint up her ladyfriends? We'll see... I'm guessing Nina Flowers has a airbrush and blowtorch in her arsenal.
And in the preview below, it looks like there's some shade between Nina and Rebecca. Ay! And the girls are informed that they've gotta compete to be the next MAC Viva Glam spokesmodel. This one gets personal with flashbacks back to Ongina and Bebe's childhoods in the Philippines and Cameroon, respectively. Gay baby photos??? Yes, please... Bring on the drama and tears!
Easy. Breezy. Beautiful. COVER GIRL! Yep, RuPaul is bringing the glamour in her new video for the single "Cover Girl," which you've probably heard on RuPaul's Drag Race, as it plays during each weekly RuPaul runway reveal (and at the show's end when the gals all prance around together).
Another video for the tune will feature the eventual Drag Race winner, but for now, enjoy viva-glamtastic Ru, a hot little red sportscar, some striding man-flesh, and the tune's producer, DJ RevoLucian (aka Lucian Piane), dancing around with a big hose.
In this preview clip for next Monday's episode of RuPaul's Drag Race, watch how the girls deal with the challenge to "Channel their Inner Oprah!" It's rough. And amazing.
First, I love the way they all interpret what a newscaster should look like. Do they get their news from Mars Attacks? And then forcing the gals to try and pronounce the name of Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is just plain evil. I love it! But since when do drag queens read the news?
SPOILER ALERT! Don't read on if you didn't watch last night's RuPaul's Drag Race. And don't watch the "Under the Hood" behind-the-scenes dishfest above, either. Each week this video series takes you in the green room (the "Illusions Lounge" I believe it's called) so you can watch the Drag Racers talk trash and vent!
RuPaul's Drag Race: The Pork Gets Chopped & Preview of Episode 2
SPOILER ALERT: The above video tells you which drag superstar hopeful got snipped from last night's big premiere of RuPaul's Drag Race. Not watched yet? Well, do it now so we can talk!
After the jump, more dish on the show and previews of next week's episode featuring a musical girl-group challenge and a guest-judging appearance by a close friend of the House of Dereon.
RuPaul Visits Logo Office, Sashays, Offers Makeup Tips & Empowerment
If it's 3pm at the Logo offices, it's time for afternoon runway with RuPaul!
We've had some pretty amazing visitors to the Logo offices. Rue McClanahan. Olivia Newton-John. Jonny McGovern flanked by a gaggle of go-go boys in their undies. Uh Huh Her. But today might have been the most legendary office-visit ever, as RuPaul sashayed in to do a meet-and-greet with the staff, which turned in to a veritable Learning Annex seminar on self-empowerment and a lesson on the history of lacefront wigs.
And of course, the diva's visit wasn't complete without a little bit of inter-office runway action. Ru and exec assistant Tikki took a twirl, but that came after Ru shared some stories and advice, such as...
Looking sharp in man-drag, Ru recounted how he first started doing drag in ATL way back when. His first look of choice was edgy "gender f*ck" -- think a ratty prom dress, smeared lipstick, nappy wig. But once he started to dress up glam, people told him "Damn, you look hot!"
RuPaul's Drag Race: Watch the First Episode Here! Now!
RuPaul's Drag Race debuts on Logo tonight at 10pm, but you don't have to wait til then!!! Since we at NewNowNext know people, we've got the entire first episode for you to watch right here, right now! Get ready to join the battle to crown America's next drag superstar! Weaves will be yanked!
In the first segment above, the girls arrive and start circling each other and sniffing each other out! Meet 'em all! And check their looks. Oy... Then, they get a "she-mail" from RuPaul and the madness begins!
One great line from the start, Ongina describes her name "My middle name is Ong, and God didn't bless me with a certain -ina, so..." And which girl's ass is flabby? And whose is high and tight? And watch them all get damp when studly photographer Mike Ruiz shows up, buff in a tank top. Ladies, settle down!
One challenge involves hot, wet nearly naked men and a car wash. The other involves "drag on a dime." Think 99-cent store. And alongside regular judges RuPaul (serving Tyra-ness), Project Runway alum Santino Rice and fashion editor Merle Ginsberg, who's the guest judge? None other than fashion legend Bob Mackie!!!
Watch the rest of the episode after the jump! Like, NOW!
Their take on Ru's racy new drag queen reality show? They're amused!
The NY Times gets all meta, even referencing Faye Dunaway's appearance as a reality show judge on "The Starlet" as a pre-cursor to Ru's new gig. (Makes sense, eh?) And then this comes out:
"Each of the nine men has his own distinctive style and look as a woman, ranging from madcap androgynous punk to prissy ’50s schoolmarm: they are sui generis practitioners of a field founded on imitation."
Whoa. I had to look up "sui generis." It means unique. Or "owning it," basically.
You can also pop over and visit the folks at the World of Wonder Report. Their dish and coverage on the show, the drag-tastic contestants, the L.A. premiere and drag fabulousness in general is AMAZING!
Charo & Santino: Fresh from PopLab, Ready for RuPaul!
Charo coochies on the RuPaul Red Carpet; Santino still concerned with his Project Runway costar Andrae... Cute!
Yep muchachas, Charo & Santino Rice co-hosted Logo's music video dancefest NewNowNext Poplab on Wednesday night. OMG -- Charo's new music video "España Cañi"??? Genius! Insane! And for a nice cause. (FYI: Charo's a big animal rights supporter, thus the mantra for this tune: "Dance, Don't Bullfight!"
Below you can ogle Charo in a photo shoot promotion she did last fall with PETA and Telemundo. Ain't no bullfighter gonna pull one over on Señorita Charo!
After the jump, a video interview with Santino, and take a listen to his fierce dance single (I'm not lying!).
Dennis Hensley is a fab Hollywood journalist/author/writer/director and performer. He does it all! And he also is happy to grab a camera and attack a party, so with this in mind he headed to the L.A. launch event for RuPaul's Drag Race (coming next Monday, Feb. 2nd on Logo).
There he chatted with the contestants (Nina Flowers, Ongina, Victoria Parker, Jade, Tammie Brown), the star (RuPaul!) and even one delicious guest star -- Charo! Plus... BRITNEY!!! The results are cute, and Dennis is quick and a blast to watch. "Were there catfights? Is it like Survivor where you can't eat at all? Do you have any scars or wounds from the show? How much did you cry?"
Dennis also reveals what will be Ru's signature catchphrase (or one of them) from the show when one contestant gets kicked to the curb, and one gets to stay... "Chantay, you can stay" or "Sashay, away!" Wurk, indeed.
Ru makes some pretty sweeping statements - "All the things that make being on this planet worthwhile are tied back to drag." - but why not? She's the Supermodel of the World, so whattya gonna do?
My favorite line from the interview is about her fellow judge of this drag-queen version of Project Runway-meet-Top Model. Of Santino Rice, Ru quips: "Santino is one big d*ck sexy mother f*cker and he cracks my sh*t up..." Oh, my. Well props to Santy and his prodigious talents!
After the jump more pics of Ru from HX and a lovely artpiece: RuPaul done entirely in hair products!
Megan Brooks and Phoenix are back with another installment of their handy, how-to "What a Drag!" series. This week, they take their willing drag-wannabe into the world of weaves and wigs. Yep, it's hair-time!
Why aren't these gals on RuPaul's Drag Race? I'm thinking they'd snatch up a trophy or two, for sure! Either way, it's all part of the sassy month-long tribute that is National Drag History Month.
It's enough to make me wanna dig up my classic auburn wig from my, ahem, "costume drawer."
Drag History Month: A Tasty Interview with Miss Peppermint
NYC's Golden Girl: Peppermint! Photo by Karl Giant.
If there’s the NYC’s gay scene were high school (and it pretty much is) it’s not hard to guess who’d be the homecoming queen, the head cheerleader, the sassy diva, and the show pony – that’s because they’re all one luscious person: Miss Peppermint!
But this glowing glamazon isn’t just a nightlife hostess and late-night entertainer. She can dance, sing and crank out blistering fun pop/dance hits. She’s already had two fierce scorchers which have gotten tons of play on Logo and in venues nationwide. “Servin’ It Up” and “Thought Ya Knew” are slick joints! Think of it as Drag 2.0. It’s not about lip-synching on a pool-table anymore... Today’s up-and-comers tend to be full-fledged entertainers.
And is there any prettier out there than Miss P? Good luck with that one.
After the jump, check our cute Q&A celebrating Drag History Month. Plus, watch her hot music videos, and a clip of her guest appearance on this week’s Real World: Brooklyn! She is seriously, “servin’ it up.”
The Lady Chablis calls it "hiding her candy." But the folks at RuPaul's Drag Race (premiering on Monday, Feb. 2nd) are happy to call it what is. It's all about "tucking," and they tell you how it works! Yes, children all the contestants on the forthcoming drag-queen reality series are here to share their most intimate secrets...
You can yank it forward or whip it back, no matter. Get your goods down, please! It's all about illusion, after all... Isn't nice how we're all learning so many new things during National Drag History Month?
Next time your undies are riding up on you, think how much worse it could be...
