Russell Brand is one of the first celebrities to defend Bruce Jenner against speculative reports about his changing appearance, accusing media outlets like InTouch of "bullying" and putting the 65-year-old Keeping Up With the Kardashians star at risk of suicide.

"This is not disassociated from the more vivid and violent terrorism horrors of the world," Brand said in a recent YouTube video, referring to a recent InTouch cover that featured a Photoshopped Jenner wearing blush, lipstick, and a woman's scarf. "This climate of bullying and judgement and cruelty is a violence of its own nature."

"Transphobia seems to be the most recent and encouraged form of prejudice, now that racism and homophobia are not tolerated," he continued. "It's such a celebration of the worst aspects of human values."

Since it was published last week, the InTouch cover has been condemned by many, including the women of CBS's The Talk. The magazine's insistence that Jenner is a transgender woman is "so immoral," said Sara Gilbert. "It should be illegal if it's not."

Later in the video, Brand asks: "Do you think people should be judged until they're driven into a hole, perhaps even suicide?"

Fortunately, a friend close to Jenner says he isn't paying attention to the headlines.

"Bruce has really no interest in responding to everything that comes out in the media about him," the friend told People. "He's much more private than people think."
