Russell T Davies' New Gay Dramas "Cucumber" And "Banana" Coming To Logo In 2015

The brilliant British TV writer and producer Russell T Davies has already given us the original Queer As Folk, the modern reboot of Doctor Who and Torchwood's omnisexual space alien Captain Jack Harkness, but he's not done making landmark television. Davies has two brand new TV series on the way in early 2015 and we're proud to announce that both will be coming to our parent network Logo!

Logo and UK's Channel 4 are jointly producing Cucumber and Banana and, like Davies' Queer as Folk before them, both shows will explore gay life in Manchester, England-- but from two distinct perspectives: The hourlong Cucumber follows middle-aged gay man Henry Best (Vincent Franklin) and his long-suffering boyfriend, Lance Sullivan, while the half-hour Banana revolves around the younger characters who orbit Henry’s world.

Says Davies, "It’s an honour and delight to team up with Logo for these brand new dramas. It’s 16 years since I created Queer As Folk, which means I’ve had 16 years to build up new characters, new stories, and new insights into our lives. Across both series, we explore gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender stories, as well as love beyond labels - this is 50 shades of gay, and beyond!"

Stephen Friedman, president of Logo and MTV networks notes the groundbreaking nature of Cucumber and Banana "for the way they show intertwined narratives from two generations’ perspectives Even more importantly, the shows tell hilarious, incisive and very human stories."
