Russian Embassy Mocks Westerners As "Gay Pigs" In Offensive Cartoon

Surprise! Russia thinks the West is "in decline."

The Russian Embassy in London is under fire this week for tweeting an offensive pro-Russia political cartoon that mocks Westerners as angry "gay pigs."

The image, posted on Saturday, shows a giant muscular bear in a Russia t-shirt standing and flexing in front of a concentration camp of disgruntled piggy banks waving gay pride flags under a Eurozone sign, which bears resemblance to the infamous "Arbeit macht frei" sign at Auschwitz in Germany.

"If Russia is in decline, why worry?" the tweet reads. "Maybe, real worry is West's decline and that we manage things better?"

The post was retweeted by Gary Spedding, a UK Parliament cross-party advocate, with the message "This is a genuine tweet from the @RussianEmbassy depicting Europeans as pigs flying gay pride flags ?️‍?"

He added: "It's well-known that Russia has gone backwards in terms of LGBTQi rights in recent years and here @RussianEmbassy confirms that hatred."

The offensive tweet comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Russia, whose government has recently been accused of trying to influence the upcoming U.S. general election.

One day before the tweet was posted, the Independent reports Russia "sailed warships down the English Channel…in an apparent show of military power."

At time of posting, the tweet remained published and the Russian Embassy had not responded to the public outrage.
