Ginsburg, 81, was diagnosed with a blockage and had to have a stent inserted in her right coronary artery. She checked out Thursday and is expected to return to work on Monday.

Justice Ginsburg has made several statements in support of same-sex marriage, and has personally officiated over several same-sex weddings. Her vote is crucial for any number of marriage equality cases heading toward SCOTUS, which experts say would render a 5-4 split decision in favor of the freedom to marry.

Prior to this health scare, she made it clear she wasn't planning on stepping down anytime soon—mainly because President Obama wouldn't be able to replace her. “If I resign any time this year, he could not successfully appoint anyone I would like to see in the court," she said. “So anybody who thinks that if I step down, Obama could appoint someone like me, they’re misguided."

That's even more true now that Republicans have regained control of the House.

Get well soon Mrs. G!
